Worcester Cleaners reminds you of our fantastical heritage! Myths, magic, literature.
I read the Lord of the Rings when I was a youngling of no more than eleven winters, and I read Narnia when I was younger still (a fact which gave me an addiction to Turkish Delight and near well risked my teeth - I wonder if the Lewis estate has dental insurance for all the damage they’ve caused?)
Anyhow, I digress! The reason we at Ablewhite’s Worcester Cleaners are pondering the fantastical worlds is due to an exhibition, running until the 28th Feb - so not long left!
Worcester's rich cultural and literary heritage is celebrated in the "Fantasy: Realms of the Imagination" exhibit at The Hive, showcasing how the landscape of Worcestershire inspired legendary authors like J.R.R. Tolkien and C.S. Lewis. Featuring a collection of fantastic beasts, dragons, unicorns, and Wyverns as depicted in documents and archaeological finds, this free exhibit is a must-visit for fans of fantasy fiction. It runs from January 24th to February 28th, 2024, offering a unique glimpse into the fantastical worlds that have captivated readers worldwide.
We in Worcester should remember our history - and I think we should play certain riffs on it too. Does anyone care to read an account of Guy Fawkes, Vampire Slayer? (I won’t give up the day job!)
